Our Story

How it all started...

It was in the year 2001 when God opened the door for Pastors Luis & Ruth Solero to come to the United States through the late Rev. Jamie Manera from Jesus Cares Ministries Assembly of God in Waipahu, Hawaii.  After a year, the Lord gave them another vision, and that vision was to birth a vibrant community of believers who would impact the world.  Rev. Cir Domingo from Maranatha Christian Church and Academy Assembly of God in Hawaii was God’s instrument for Pastors Luis & Ruth to move to Seattle.  When told about the opportunity and calling in Seattle, Luis said his heart jumped and believed that it was the Spirit’s touch.  It was clear that God was preparing the couple for another strategic adventure!

With prayers, God made it possible for Pastors Luis & Ruth to start a new church here in Washington.  The church started with a few people in a small garage in June 2004.  After three months, the church moved to Lewis and Clark Theatre and used one of the facilities for almost eight months.  The number of people in the church increased to 40-50.  The church needed to vacate the theater and found another place in Tukwila Community Center.  After two months, that place was no longer available, so they had no choice but to rent weekly at a hotel in Tukwila.  The pastors were greatly amazed at the people’s flexibility in moving from one place to another; remembering the Israelites when Moses led them to the Promised Land.  They knew it was difficult, but everyone was patient enough to follow.  Finally, the church found a small warehouse in the Southcenter area.

The Hope of the City Church was formally launched on September 18, 2005, and there were about 80-100 attendees. After 6 years of moving, God brought us to Westfield Southcenter Mall (former Borders Bookstore), in which the congregation grew to 400 attendees over a 3-year span.  After 10 years of moving from 12 different locations, God has brought us to our new permanent place of worship. We are currently located at 19600 International Boulevard Seatac, Washington 98188. We will continue to harvest more souls for Jesus.  We believe that God is enlarging our territory.
